Nadara Kingassie Fund kicks off with a bang

The Nadara Westfield Wind Farm Community Fund in Kinglassie has started 2025 off with a bang, celebrating its first funding round with an award of £10,000 to support two community projects.

Funding decisions are made by a local panel, made up of community members whose local experience and familiarity with the places they live help ensure the Fund remains community focused, and that decisions are made with knowledge and insight.

The first community group to receive an award was the Kinglassie Football Club (KFC).  The KFC is a constituted volunteer club which was established in 2023, when it started playing friendly matches.  As momentum for the club grew, in 2024 KFC joined the local Fife league.  It now attracts between 50 to 100 spectators at each match and has strong community support.

The club applied for a multi-year award over three years, to support with club running costs, pitch fees and equipment and resources.  The panel agreed to award £9,300 over the three years to allow the committee and club to focus on sustainability and growth.

The second grant was awarded to Kinglassie Primary School Parent Council.  The Parent Council act as a link between the pupils, parents and the school itself, raising funds to enhance the pupils overall school experience. They applied to the Fund for just under £1,000 to contribute towards residential trip costs for Primary 7 students.  This funding will enable inclusive participation in character-building activities and development of life skills for young people.

Both projects aim to improve the quality of community life for local residents, promote community spirit and encourage community activity.

This positive start to 2025 sets an encouraging tone for the year ahead, highlighting the Fund's dedication to supporting valuable community projects that bring lasting benefits to local residents.
