Small project – big difference! Scatwell Community Association
Scatwell Community Association is a small but active organisation, set up to benefit local people and foster community spirit. The group leases an old sawmill building from Scatwell Estate as a meeting space.
The building is basic but the group has carried out a number of improvements to make it suitable for a range of community events.
Scatwell Community Association strives to create a community space where people from within and out-with Scatwell can come together for social events, education and learning, talks, exhibitions, displays and informal get-togethers. The project is driven by the community for the community, creating a hub that welcomes everyone.
In 2022 the group received an award of £850 from the Corriemoillie Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund to purchase of four lightweight folding tables and a replacement noticeboard.
The tables would be used for events and activities at the old sawmill and the noticeboard would be used to publicise Scatwell Community Association events and other matters of local interest.
Post pandemic, it was especially important to help bring the community back together.
A simple project, addressing community needs, met by the fund.
