Purpose of this fund

The West Benhar Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund is a devolved fund with each community managing its funding in line with community priorities and in response to community need.

Who can apply?

Community groups and organisations working to benefit people in each community within the area of benefit can apply to each of the local funds. Some of the funding for Shotts and Fauldhouse directly supports programmes of activity run by the local anchor organisations.

How are decisions made?

Decisions are made by designated groups within each community. These include the Board of Getting Better Together, a community centred health initiative serving the Shotts community, the Board of the Fauldhouse & Breich Valley Community Development Trust, and the Board of the Harthill, Eastfield and Greenrigg Group. All three are established organisations serving their respective communities through planning, delivering and/or funding a diverse range of community-based activity and projects.

Frequently asked questions

  • Why can’t I just apply to Foundation Scotland for a grant from the West Benhar Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund?

The West Benhar Fund is a devolved fund. This means different arrangements are in place for the different communities that benefit from the fund because that was the preference of the community involved. If you are looking to run an activity or project benefitting the Harthill, Eastfield or Greenrigg community you can apply directly to Foundation Scotland because Foundation Scotland distributes the HEG Community Fund. However if the area of focus is Shotts or Fauldhouse you need to contact those organisations directly. Please see below for how to apply.
