About this fund

Spindrift believes that thriving communities are built on access to good food, a healthy natural environment, and the knowledge and skills to sustain both. The fund will support projects that focus on strengthening local food systems, nature recovery, and climate resilience. 

Purpose of this fund

Projects should be able to clearly demonstrate its impact on the community and meet at least one of the following priorities:
•    Enabling access to affordable and nutritious food. 
•    Providing opportunities to grow food locally.
•    Promoting education and employment opportunities around growing food. cooking and healthy eating.
•    Providing environmental education. 
•    Improving local biodiversity, nature restoration, and/or climate resilience.
•    Supporting access for all, to local natural environments. 

Additional criteria

Your organisation must be based in Dumfries and Galloway or Ayrshire (North, East or South).

You can apply for up to £25,000 per year, for a maximum of 3 years (maximum total grant, therefore, is £75,000).

Please note this is a large, multi year, grants programme and therefore not appropriate for small grant requests of less than £10,000.

There is an income cap of £500,000 as reflected in your most recent annual accounts.

You can apply for project and core costs.

£300,000 is available for distribution. Please note this means 4 grants at £75,000 can be awarded. Therefore, a range of 1-3 year grants will be made so please consider your request accordingly when applying.

Due to high demand across all funding programmes, application levels will be reviewed weekly. The programme may close earlier than the published deadline if demand significantly exceeds the available funds.
