HALSARY
Halsary Windfarm Fund
Halsary Windfarm Fund is a charitable fund provided by ScottishPower Renewables, the company that owns and operates the Halsary Windfarm in Caithness.
The total funding provided by ScottishPower Renewables from Halsary Windfarm is approximately £150,000 each year, for the life of the windfarm, expected to be 25 years. The distribution of this funding in Caithness is via three local funds and one regional fund. £30,000 each year will be distributed by Watten Windfarm Trust and £30,000 distributed by Halkirk & District with a further £30,000 distributed by Latheron Lybster & Clyth CC and the remaining £60,000 open to applications from across Caithness via the Caithness Community Fund.
The community benefit fund supports community-led charitable activities and development by supporting the charitable activities of constituted, not-for-profit groups working to benefit the community. The community benefit fund is for groups operating in the Halkirk District Community Council and the Watten Community Council area.
To meet the local needs of each community council the fund is split into two local sub-funds. Each community council area has its own local community fund.
