About this fund

The David Doig Foundation was established in memory of David Doig. David firmly believed access to education should be available to everyone, regardless of their circumstances, ensuring individuals achieve their true potential. The fund was set up to continue his vision, and provide a legacy of support for young people across Scotland.

Purpose of this fund

The David Doig Foundation supports education initiatives that help unlock disadvantaged young people’s full potential for their future success.

The Foundation will support a broad range of activities that will enable young people to take part in education. This could be around building confidence and self-esteem to enable a return to education, providing opportunities and access to activities that might not otherwise be available to young people due to their circumstances, or working with children who are at risk of or have been excluded from mainstream education.

The David Doig Foundation has a particular interest in engaging young people in education around nature, horticulture, and conservation, which will help enable them to pursue further education and careers in these areas.

Whilst there is no fixed amount for applications, the programme will typically award grants between £1,500 - £3,000.
