EDF Renewables Burnfoot Wind Farm Funds

The EDF Renewables Burnfoot Wind Farm cluster of community funds combines community benefit funding from four wind farms: Burnfoot Hill, Burnfoot North, Rhodders and Burnfoot East.

The original Burnfoot Hill Community Fund was established in 2011 to benefit five geographic areas:

  • The ‘Hillfoots’ Community Councils areas of Alva; Dollar; and Tillicoultry, Coalsnaughton & Devonside;
  • The Community Council area of Blackford, and the hamlet of Glendevon within Auchterarder and District Community Council area, both of which are in Perth & Kinross.

With the commissioning of the Burnfoot North and Rhodders wind farms, the fund was enhanced in 2014/15. As a result, the amount of money going into the fund increased, and the number of beneficiary communities was extended to seven by adding:

  • The ‘Hillfoots’ Community Council area of Menstrie;
  • Braco & Greenloaning Community Council area in Perth & Kinross.

With the commissioning of the Burnfoot East wind farm, the Fund was further enhanced in 2020.  As a result, the amount of money going into the fund further increased, and the number of beneficiary communities was extended to eight by adding:

  • The ‘Hillfoots’ Community Council area of Muckhart

The fund purpose

Funding across all areas supports charitable activities that:

  • Enhance the quality of life for residents;
  • Contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities; or
  • Promote community spirit and encourage community activity.

To meet the needs of each area, the Burnfoot cluster of community funds are distributed via four sub-funds to enable local decision making.  Each fund is managed differently to suit their local circumstances. To find out more, including application arrangements for each area, please follow the links below.
