New education & training fund for Dumfries and Galloway

The Whiteside Hill Wind Farm Community Fund is now accepting applications from Kirkconnel, Kelloholm and Sanquhar residents to the Whiteside Hill Education & Training Fund. The purpose of the fund is to improve the opportunities and livelihoods of people living in the Kirkconnel & Kelloholm and Royal Burgh of Sanquhar and District Community Council areas.

The scheme will provide financial support to enable local people to access further education and training opportunities. Awards of up to £1,500 are available and can cover a range of costs including course fees, travel, specialist equipment or childcare.

“UNCT is delighted to be part of this further education scheme which will enable students to obtain qualifications in a wide range of subjects. Upper Nithsdale has a long tradition of assisting students to improve their educational and employment prospects, and the Whiteside Hill Education and Training Fund will continue this long tradition to the mutual benefit of students and the local communities.”

"We are committed to making a positive impact in Kirkconnel, Kelloholm & Sanquhar areas. It is our belief that increased funding to support education and training will deliver positive long-term results within the community. I would like to thank the Upper Nithsdale Community Trust and Foundation Scotland for their hard work and collaboration in delivering this scheme."
