Rumbling Bridge Hydro Community Fund announces latest awards
Almost £50,000 has been awarded to six local community organisations providing services that benefit local communities within the Fossoway & District, and Muckhart community council areas by the Rumbling Bridge Hydro Community Fund.
Community halls in both areas received grants to support critical upgrading work to the buildings.
The Crook of Devon Village Hall received an award of £9,500 for roof repairs that will ensure the integrity of the building can be maintained and the facility sustained as an important community hub serving the Fossoway and wider area. Muckhart Coronation Hall was awarded £10,000 towards the refurbishment of the toilet facilities to improve access for older people and younger children in particular, and to make the hall more attractive, comfortable and useable.
Diane McMillan from the Crook of Devon Hall Management said:
Crook Of Devon Village Hall Committee is delighted to have been awarded this grant from the Rumbling Bridge Community Fund. The Hall, built in 1911, is an integral part of our community and its facilities are enjoyed every day by a range of different organisations and local community members. The works to the roof will allow us to maintain our much beloved community asset for many more generations to come. We are very grateful to the Rumbling Bridge Community Fund for this grant and their generosity.
The Fund also supported Dollar Community Development Trust with an award of £7,000 to support the participatory development and production costs of a cycling and walking map of the Muckhart and Fossoway area. The work will build on and extend Active Dollar’s cycling programme into the KY13 area, and provide local people and visitors with a valuable guide that will encourage them to walk and cycle more in the area to improve their health, wellbeing and quality of life. A range of cycling sessions will accompany promotion of the map in the spring.
Donald Malcolm from Dollar Community Development Trust said:
This award is a significant contribution towards connecting the FK14 and KY13 postal code rural communities. It is striking how the issue of a suitable local map has emerged a favourite topic during the recent Fossoway Community Action Plan survey. Our team look forward to the results of a collaborative project linking local knowledge, the experience of walking and cycling professionals with the design and publishing skills of Harvey Maps. We hope this map will be the forerunner of a series, describing the starting point for walking and cycling adventures for all ages and abilities.
Awards were also made to Kinross-shire Youth Enterprise SCIO towards costs of a weekly youth club in Crook of Devon, and to and Seamab, to help with the costs of three air source heat pump systems that are a feature of the planned new school building.
The Rumbling Bridge Hydro Community Fund is provided by the Rumbling Bridge Hydro Community Society, and supported by charity specialists Foundation Scotland.
Andrew Moore, a Director the Rumbling Bridge Hydro Community Society which provides the funding said:
Rumbling Bridge Community Hydro Society is pleased to be making grant awards to local community buildings, Crook of Devon Village Hall and Muckhart Coronation Hall for repair and renovation. We are also delighted to receive our first request for an energy related project from Seamab, the Perth and Kinross based charity that provides care and education for children and young people from across Scotland.
Rachel Searle, Head of Communities at Foundation Scotland added:
The Rumbling Bridge Community Fund provides grants of between £3,000 and £10,000, supporting charitable activity that champions the sustainability of the Muckhart and Fossoway area. Key priorities are promoting renewable energy, alleviating energy poverty and promoting community spirit. The next round of funding will open early in the new year, and we look forward to receiving proposals from groups with projects that address these priorities. It’s a straightforward application process and our team is on hand to support groups with applications if they need it.
