New Co’path & Cove Education & Training Fund launched
"When education and training funding is flexible, locally grounded and built on trust, its impact extends far beyond individual awards."
A new funding opportunity has been launched as a pilot to support skills development and employment opportunities across the Cockburnspath and Cove area in the Scottish Borders.
The Co’path & Cove Education & Training Fund will offer grants of up to £1,500 for individuals and up to £2,500 for businesses and organisations to help cover the costs of education, training, and career development activities.
The pilot fund aims to equip local people with the skills and confidence needed to access and sustain employment, while also helping small businesses to grow, create jobs, and invest in staff development. Funding can support a wide range of activities, including course fees, travel and accommodation, study materials, apprenticeships, and business training.
The fund brings together six existing community benefit funds linked to local wind farms, simplifying access to support through a single application process. Around £115,000 will be available annually to benefit the local community.
Individuals, businesses, and organisations based in the Cockburnspath and Cove Community Fund area are eligible to apply. Applications are now open on a rolling basis.
Since the first Education & Training Fund was launched in 2016, Foundation Scotland has awarded over £2.3 million across 27 Funds, through more than 2,000 individual awards that have transformed access to learning, skills and employment across rural and remote communities.
“When you invest in learning, you don’t just change an individual pathway – you widen what feels possible for an entire community.”
