Local communities receive funding boost from Ardersier Port Community Fund

Three organisations will share a total of £17,870 providing essential support for local healthcare, digital access, and community heritage.

Awards are made by a local decision-making panel, drawn from the four community councils in the Fund area - Petty and Ardersier, Cawdor and West Nairnshire, Croy and Culloden Moor and Nairn West and Suburban.

Highland and Islands Blood Bikes has received £9,000 to cover six months of fuel costs, supporting the voluntary delivery of patient prescriptions, donor blood transport, and hospital transfers across the region. The service plays a vital role in enabling earlier patient discharges and improving healthcare outcomes for people across the Highlands.

Croy & Culloden Moor Community Council has received a £3,870 grant to fund the creation of a dedicated community website. The site will improve access to information and public accessibility by providing a central location for council information, meeting agendas and minutes, as well as local event information, directly addressing concerns raised by residents about information access and compliance.

Finally, Nairn River Enterprise has received a grant of £5,000 to contribute to critical stonework repairs on Seaman's Hall in Nairn. The works will enable energy efficiency improvements and enhanced accessibility, while safeguarding the continuation of training programmes hosted at the building as well as addressing long-standing safety and heating challenges. The project is an example of the fund's commitment to maintaining and improving community facilities.

Matthew Withey, CEO at Nairn River Enterprise (Green Hive) said:

“Green Hive is delighted to receive this generous grant from the Haventus Ardersier Port Community Benefit Fund. The investment will go towards a long-term project for restoring and making critical repairs to the ailing stonework of our community hub building at Seaman's Hall in the Fishertown enclave of Nairn. Seaman's Hall has been at the heart of this community for 150 years, and Green Hive is working hard to bring through the improvements needed to ensure it supports local needs for much longer to come.”

David Logie, Chief People Officer at Haventus said:

“We're pleased to support another round of funding through the Community Benefit Fund and to work alongside Foundation Scotland to help make it possible. Their expertise, together with the insight and commitment of the local panel members who give their time to assess applications, gives us real confidence that this investment is reaching the people and projects where it can make the greatest difference.

Every funding round highlights the strength of the communities around us and the dedication of the organisations and volunteers working to make them even better. We're proud to play a small part in supporting those efforts.”

The Haventus Ardersier Port Community Benefit Fund, which is administered by Foundation Scotland, was established to provide a community benefit fund for the communities surrounding the Ardersier Energy Transition Facility.

Now entering its third year, plans are in place to review the Fund Framework, which sets out the Fund’s purpose, priorities and distribution arrangements. There will also be a public showcase of awarded projects at the Ardersier War Memorial Hall on the 22nd September between 4.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. Refreshments will be available, and all are welcome.

Organisations based within the Fund area are encouraged to apply, and the next closing date for the Fund is the 30th September 2026, with decisions made in November 2026.
