Inch Cape Construction Fund Award Update
An update on some of the funding awarded this month by the Inch Cape Construction Fund.
The Inch Cape Construction Fund was launched in February 2024 and has already distributed more than £22,000. The fund supports community projects that help tackle the effects of poverty and inequality while improving the environment and supporting sustainability for residents of the Prestonpans or Cockenzie & Port Seton community council areas. The fund supports charitable activities that contribute to outcomes such as physical and mental well-being, reducing isolation, reducing poverty, increasing access to education and employment, and improving the local environment.
Seven new groups have been awarded funding this month, totalling £9,318 including the Preston Lodge Learning Foundation to support young people participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Funding was also awarded to Prestonpans Community Council for the 'Plants for Heritage' project to brighten the local area.
The fund supports community projects which are working to reduce the effects of poverty and inequality while improving the local environment for residents of the Prestonpans and Cockenzie & Port Seton community council areas.

Port Seton Centre Management Committee (SCIO) | £1,000 | To contribute towards the cost of drama tuition, for young people with additional support needs to develop improved self-confidence, communication, and interpersonal skills. |
Preston Lodge High School Pipe Band | £1,000 | To contribute towards the costs of providing exam and solo competition opportunities, enhancing players musical experiences and gaining recognition for their achievements. |
Preston Lodge Learning Foundation | £2,000 | To contribute towards the cost of replacing essential equipment used for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme within Preston Lodge High School. |
Prestonpans Community Council | £1,318 | To cover the costs of the 'Plants for Heritage' project to brighten a recently restored area of Prestonpans, instilling an increased sense of community pride amongst residents. |
Women's Aid East & Midlothian | £2,000 | To contribute toward supporting women and families subjected to domestic abuse with fuel and food costs through the provision of food vouchers and meter top-ups. |
Launched in February 2024, the fund is provided by Inch Cape Offshore Limited, a joint venture between Red Rock Power and ESB Energy, which is developing the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm. A total of £45,000 will be available for distribution over the first twelve months.
