Foundation Scotland welcomes new Chair and Trustees
After seven years as a dedicated trustee, and five as Chair of the Foundation Scotland Board, Barry Sillers stepped down at our recent AGM.
Barry successfully oversaw expansion of our Board, and of our committees, effectively widening the breadth of Board composition, and the range of specialist expertise across our governance.
We now warmly welcome as our new Chair, Mamta Patel, who has been a Trustee of Foundation Scotland for three years and has extensive professional and personal experience which she will bring to her new role.
I was honoured to be asked to take on the role of Chair of Foundation Scotland. Barry has done an immense amount of work in the role, working alongside trustees and staff to ensure that Foundation Scotland is always evolving and responding to community needs, and I know that he will be missed, both professionally and personally. The Chair role brings new responsibilities and I am conscious of the trust being placed in me to do the job well. In the three years I have been a Trustee, I have come to look forward to my interactions with Foundation Scotland’s Board and staff because I know I will meet dynamic, committed people intent on doing their best for Scottish communities.
Existing trustees Sharon Fairweather and Leslie Rance have become Board Vice-chairs, to support Mamta, alongside Toby Anstruther who has been vice-chair for five years.
We are also welcoming five new fantastic Trustees to our Board. Between them, they have an enormous amount of talent and experience and we’re very much looking forward to their input and guidance. They are Deborah Paton, Susan Murray, Carlos Miranda, Mairi Mickel and Kim Atkinson.
