Armadale Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund
Foundation Scotland, working on behalf of Brookfield Renewable UK Limited, is developing a community benefit fund strategy for the Armadale Wind Farm. The fund would likely become available on the commissioning of the wind farm. We are consulting locally on the fund and would welcome your views in response to the questions below.
Armadale Wind Farm
Brookfield Renewable UK Limited has submitted a proposal to develop Armadale Wind Farm, south of Armadale on the north coast of Sutherland, to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit. If approved, the project will support a long-term community benefit package of up to £288,000 for every year that the wind farm is in operation. Should you have any questions about the proposed wind farm, please visit the Armadale Wind Farm project website at www.armadalewindfarm.co.uk
The Community
Presently, Brookfield is proposing that the area to benefit from the fund will comprise the four community council areas of: Strathy and Armadale; Bettyhill, Strathnaver and Altnaharra; Melvich, and; Tongue.
The majority of funded activity would be expected to take place within the area, but it is possible that some activity may be supported that takes place outside the area, where a significant number of the area’s population will benefit. For example, where a key facility or service is provided just outside the area. The online questionnaire provides an opportunity to comment on this.
